'Scrap Queen' Necklace Giveaway

 

Allo, fellow scrappers!  My giveaway today is this adorable bottlecap organza ribbon necklace created by yours truly.  The image was printed on photo paper, adhered to the bottlecap, and sealed with an epoxy dome.  The pendant has an "O" ring for easy attachment to almost any chain.  The organza ribbon features a lobster clasps and are approximately 18'' in length with a 2'' extender.

new wall decor

Happy Monday peeps.  I'm back with another project with this month's Scraps of Darkness kit, "Now and Zen".  I was really inspired by Nancy's "Be the Change" project.  What I love most about her page is that she used the patterned papers to make a landscape.  I really had fun painting all over my page.  Thank you Nancy for inspiring me with your wonderful creation!

After a dozen photos, this is the best I could get.  It really looks much prettier in person.  I plan on getting a shadowbox for it and hanging it in my studio.

More "Now and Zen"

I just wanted to share three more pages that I created, from Scraps of Darkness' May kit, "Now and Zen".

First up is a page of our precious kiddos.  This photo was taken in February of this past year, when husband was in an Orlando ICU for a heart attack.  It was a rough weekend for the three of them, considering they were only allowed to see their dad for a few minutes every day and we were cooped up in a hospital.

The alphabet is actually Kaisercraft chipboard.  I painted the letters with white acrylic paint and used Stickles to make them stand out.

The second page is of our youngest daughter, T.  Most days, she's not a happy camper when it comes to her hair.  She has a combination of thick, filipino hair and wiry, black hair.  It doesn't help that we live in such a humid environment.  I was hoping that her hair would have calmed down by now, just like her oldest sister's but it hasn't.  T had a long overdue haircut a few weeks ago and her hair is a bit more manageable now.

This paper fan was included in this month's kit.  I used Donna Salazar's smooch spritz in two different color combinations and applied the prima rub-ons, also from this month's kit.

My last page I want to share is one that has been in the making for some time.  I rarely turn to scrapbooking as a therapy and I feel so much better after creating this page.  This page is of my husband, who suffered a heart attack in February of this year.  For those that are wondering, he has a clean bill of health now...he's just on a few medications for now.

The bamboo peices are also from the kit, I cut them into short peices so that I could frame my husband's photo.  If you're wondering what I used to adhere them to the page..it took some trial and error but I ended up using ribbon adhesive tape (Stampin Up).

need a photographer for a homecoming? find one on OPLOVE

There are dozens of non-profit organizations out there that support our Armed Forces and there are only a small few that I endorse on my blog.  As I was checking in on FB and twitter this evening, I noticed that there were a couple of long and overdue homecomings.  As I read everyone's statuses, I was reminded of OPLOVE.

OPERATION LOVE REUNITED is it's fullname and it's a 501(c)3 Non-Profit organization.  All proceeds go directly to running the organization that supports military families.  Still confused?  Here's a excerpt form their website explaining who they are,

The last thing on your mind when your wife or husband arrives home after a 4 to 18 month tour, is capturing all this love– on film.
Most people are so overwhelmed with emotions they forget to simply point and shoot the camera they are grasping of their child’s first hug,
or that single tear of relief from a mother being able to hold her twenty year old son again.
With the help of Operation: Love ReUnited and local photographers near your base, you can.

What I love most about OPLOVE is that it gives photographers a chance to help military families by doing something they love most...photography!  Whether you're looking for a photographer to shoot your next homecoming or you're a budding photographer wanting to contribute to a great cause...this is the one.

Once I hone my photography skills and get my lenses, I would love to volunteer my time to shoot homecomings.  I just need to make sure I pack a tissue box in my camera bag.  These events always make me tear up.
