I am not a fan of "foo-foo" dogs. You know the type. Small breeds that are high maintenance and the majority of their life is spent in someone's lap or in someone's arms, as if they were the latest accessory. But I digress.
Most of you know that while I was in Texas this past summer, I "adopted" a purebred American Pitbull Terrier from a friend. I know what some of you may be thinking, "Michele, don't you have small children?" Yes, I do and I'll admit that I had my concerns at first, but those quickly went away after doing plenty of research on pitbulls and talking to my friend about the mom and dad.
Our oldest daughter had been asking us for a dog since she was 4 years old, she's 9 now. But the time was never right, we were either living overseas, renting someplace that didn't allow pets, or our twins were just too young to introduce a dog into the home. Now...the time was finally right and our kids were old enough.
So Jaz came into our lives. She was named after my husband's favorite music genre and my daughter's favorite autobot from "Transformers". Why Jayda chose the autobot that couldn't even make it to Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen, I still don't know to this day. There was an immediate bond between the kids and Jaz. They fell in love with her off the bat, especially Tahlia and Isaiah.
Jaz' #1 fan happens to be Isaiah. Go figure, right? Isaiah is the little man of the house, and sometimes his sisters leave him out of the equation so this friendship was a blessing. It's your typical story about a boy and his dog. Just thinking about the relationship these two have, brings a smile to my face.
Both my mom and mother-in-law are a bit wary about visiting us, since we have a pit now. But if their 3 year old granddaughter/grandson dont have a problem...I think they should cowboy up! :)
Now how about a Giveaway? In honor of Valentine's Day, Crazy Daisy Kit Co. is giving away a RAK on their blog. All you have to do is comment about all the things you love on THIS POST. The loot is one of their awesome Crazy Daisy Kit Co. Totes, a 7 Gypsies Binderie Tool, and some scrappy goodies. By the way, their tote is super cute! I won a tote full of goodies from a giveaway they hosted at ScrapScene last April. Good Luck!
